Smith and Jones at Brush Turkey Books
guitarist/vocalist Sophie Jones, who live and create on Wiradjuri land. Their work is
centred around the intersection of womanhood and identity within regional areas,
with a dedication to artistic leadership, community engagement and creative integrity.
Smith & Jones have toured and performed extensively over their 12 year partnership
off the back of their first two self-funded albums (Dark Gives Way, 2017; and
Something Worth Learning, 2019). The past few years have seen Abby and Sophie
begin work on their newest project/album, with four singles currently available, which
marks a fresh chapter for Smith & Jones, and is the musical representation of two
souls who decided to yearn, and wait, and make magic, together.
After taking a year off in 2023, 2024 saw Smith & Jones return with a 2 month tour
across NSW as part of ‘Highway of Lost Hearts’ - a one woman theatre show that
they composed an all original soundtrack for and performed live on stage in the
show. They also recorded a companion EP, ‘Rabbits on the Moon’ which is available
exclusively on Bandcamp.
2025/26 has seen Abby & Sophie return to performing, opening for Ella Hooper in
Bathurst in both 2025 and 2026, performing at the Blue Mountains Music festival in
March and touring with Great Aunt to the ACT. Later this year Smith & Jones hope to
release, ‘The Danger’, the 5th single from their long awaited third album, ‘My Heart Is
Always Taking Me’, due for release in 2026.
