Smiles for Heroes 2026 - Free Dental Care for US Veterans
September: Patient schedule opens
***What is Smiles for Heroes?***
Morrison Dental Group is proud to host this year’s Smiles for Heroes event, a day dedicated to providing free dental care to veterans in our community. For many veterans, dental care is something they have delayed, gone without, or struggled to access. This event gives us a chance to use our skills in a very personal and meaningful way.
3 Hours of Service for 250 Years of Freedom: As America celebrates its 250th birthday, we believe there is no better way to honor that milestone than by caring for those who helped protect the freedoms we enjoy.
All veterans who attend will receive a dental cleaning and any additional dental care that can be reasonably completed that day. Common procedures include cleanings, fillings, and extractions. With the generous help of our dental laboratory partners, we are also able to provide many veterans with night guards. Last year, the Smiles for Heroes event provided over $104,000 in treatment.

2026 Sign-Up Link Coming Soon! Check back for updates and in the meantime, please share this event!
Smiles for Heroes will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Two volunteer shifts will be available, each approximately three hours long. We know schedules are busy, and our hope is that a three-hour shift makes it possible for more dental professionals to say yes to helping our nation’s veterans. The event will take place in Williamsburg, Hampton, and Norfolk.
We are seeking volunteers in the following roles: Dentists, Hygienists, Sterilization technicians, and Administrative team members.
Clinical volunteers serving as dentists or hygienists must have an active Virginia license or qualifying military authorization to practice.
We will make volunteering as simple as possible. Clinical volunteers only need to bring their loupes. All materials, instruments, supplies, and equipment will be provided. Each volunteer will also receive a Smiles for Heroes volunteer t-shirt.
Volunteers do not need to hold a separate malpractice policy specifically for this event and are covered under their general policy and the Good Samaritan Act.
Whether someone is providing treatment, sterilizing instruments, greeting veterans, assisting with paperwork, or helping the day run smoothly, every role matters.
Please SHARE this page! Every share helps us reach as many volunteers as possible. Each and every volunteer helps us care for more veterans.
Just three hours can make a real difference. Three hours can relieve pain. Three hours can restore confidence. Three hours can remind a veteran that their service has not been forgotten.
Thank you for considering joining us for this special day of care, gratitude, and community service.
***Support***
As a community-supported event, Smiles for Heroes relies on the generosity of partners like you. We are currently seeking monetary sponsorships and food donations to help make this event possible and to support both the veterans we serve and the volunteers who give their time.
Monetary donations help cover essential event needs, including dental supplies, materials, volunteer t-shirts, event costs, and patient care support. Food donations help us provide meals and refreshments for veterans and volunteers throughout the day.
We would be grateful for your support in any amount. No contribution is too small, and every donation helps us serve more veterans.
All sponsors will receive recognition on this year’s event t-shirt and on our social media channels, highlighting your commitment to honoring veterans in our community.
Thank you for considering a donation to Smiles for Heroes. Your support helps turn gratitude into action — one veteran, one smile, and one act of service at a time. If you are interested in supporting this cause, please email: [email protected]
