Marquesas Blimes with FAAST explores how smart home technology can help older adults remain safe, independent, and connected while living in their own homes. This presentation highlights practical tools such as voice assistants, smart lighting, medication reminders, home security systems, and remote monitoring solutions that support daily living, increase safety, and provide peace of mind for individuals and their caregivers.

Dr. Zhe He with FSU Institute for Successful Longevity shares how Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming part of everyday life and can help older adults live healthier, safer, and more independently. This interactive presentation will introduce practical AI tools - such as voice assistants, reminders, and information assistants - that simplify daily tasks, support healthy habits, and improve communication with family and healthcare providers. Participants will also learn about two AI innovations developed at Florida State University: LabGenie, which helps patients better understand lab test results, and ALCOVE, an AI concierge that promotes community engagement and social connectedness. The session will conclude with practical tips for using AI safely, avoiding scams, and getting started with AI in everyday life.
