SEALL Presents Small Halls '25 starring 4 of our musicians!
Duncan Chisholm
Duncan Chisholm will play this event. Duncan is one of Scotland’s most recognised and accomplished fiddle players and composers. Duncan’s music contains the rarest of chemistries, a glorious combination of invention, tenderness and passion. He creates music that requires no introductions or programme notes to carry you on its journey, sumptuously layered and awash with dazzling colours, textures and rhythms. The sound may be traditional but this is 21st Century traditional music which is sophisticated, exhilarating and meltingly beautiful.
Kathryn Joseph
Kathryn Joseph will play this event. Known for her fearless storytelling, raw emotional depth, and unflinching honesty, Kathryn Joseph has made a lasting mark on contemporary music. A relentless pursuit of truth runs through each of her albums, from the devastating beauty of bones you have thrown me and blood I’ve spilled (2015), which won the Scottish Album of the Year Award, to the grief-stricken intensity of from when i wake the want is (2018), and the haunting for you who are the wronged (2022), a powerful reckoning with abuse in all its forms.
Malin Lewis
Malin Lewis will play this event Innovator, award winning, multi-instrumentalist Malin Lewis melds Scottish West coast tradition on fiddle and a newly invented, self-made bagpipe. They weave hair tingling, philosophical and dance inducing melodies with European folk traditions, queerness and the universe. Malin’s unique timbre is born from the deep connection that comes from making and composing for their own instrument. Their one of a kind two-octave Smallpipe creates a whole new world of sound, captivating audiences at every opportunity.
Innes Watson
Innes Watson will play this event. Innes, from Glasgow, is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist with over twenty years of contemporary and traditional Scottish music, performance, recording, teaching and producing behind him. He grew up in the Scottish Borders in very supportive musical surroundings encouraging an extremely eclectic mix of skills, abilities, interests and accolades that combine to make Innes one of the most highly regarded and sought-after musicians in Scotland today. He currently teaches at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig amongst others.
