It's time for our favorite day of the year– Small Business Saturday. Let's celebrate what we in downtown Iowa City celebrate every day but on a national level!
Join us on November 30th for a day dedicated to supporting the locally-owned businesses that make our downtown so special and give our community its charm and character. As the holiday season unfolds, it’s the perfect time to shop small, discover unique gifts, treat yourself to a delicious meal at your favorite restaurant, or enjoy a show at one of downtown’s many venues. Your support keeps our downtown vibrant.
To make your visit even easier, FREE PARKING will be available in all downtown ramps, courtesy of the City of Iowa City.

Small Business Saturday is an event that began in 2010 as a way to encourage people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The celebration has become a national holiday campaign with the Downtown Iowa City neighborhood recognized as a regional center of locally-owned businesses that will once again will celebrate the importance of shopping locally.
Celebrate the season with even more holiday activities beginning on Small Business Saturday:
Santa Saturdays
– 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM at FilmScene and SpareMe in the Chauncey
– Santa is making four festive visits downtown! Kids can drop off their letters, share their wishlists, and take free photos with the jolly old elf.
Tractor Wagon Rides
– 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Hills Bank
– Take in the sights and sounds of the season with a whimsical tractor wagon ride. Sponsored by Hills Bank, these rides are complimentary and perfect for families!
Downtown Hunt for the Elves
– Starting November 30th, join a kid-friendly scavenger hunt to find hidden elves in downtown shops and restaurants. Collect stamps or names to win prizes!
Downtown Teddy Bear Room
– November 30 – December 31, 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM at the Hilton Garden Inn
– Visit a magical room filled with hundreds of teddy bears! Hug, play, take photos, and enjoy storytime with the Iowa City Public Library on select Tuesdays.
