In this engaging, image-rich presentation, we will explore the honey bee’s life inside the hive and out in the field—from the remarkable roles of the queen, workers, and drones to the ingenious ways bees share information, find food, and keep a colony thriving. You will also learn how bees create honey and wax, why pollination matters to gardens and agriculture, and what everyone can do to support pollinators at home.Program highlights include:
• Hive hierarchy: the queen, workers, and drones—and the jobs that keep the colony running
• Communication: how bees use scent, sound, and the famous “waggle dance” to share directions
• From nectar to honey: how foragers collect nectar and how the hive transforms it into honey
• Wax and comb: why bees build hexagons and how the comb supports brood, food, and the colony’s structure
• Big impact: pollination, seasonal cycles, and simple ways to help pollinators in your yard or community.
Participants will have the opportunity to taste raw local honey that was harvested in the spring, summer and fall. You will be amazed at the differences in both color and flavor.
