About this Event
GerrAudio Distribution is hosting a Smaart v9 training session that is being taught by design and tuning expert, Ian Robertson. Ian has been involved in system design, commissioning, and measurement using dual channel FFT analyzers since the late ‘90s. He has been a certified Smaart instructor since 2016.
A little about Smaart... Learning to Make Sense of the Noise.
Smaart is the most widely used software tool for real-time sound system measurement, optimization and acoustical analysis in professional sound today. For over 18 years it has garnered a loyal following from every corner of the audio industry, and on a daily basis it helps audio professionals around the globe do their jobs better, faster and, of course, smarter.
But like any tool, Smaart is only as good as the person who wields it, which is why training on a tool this powerful is so important.
Rational Acoustics has developed this comprehensive series of Smaart Training Classes designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the application and utilization of Smaart.
Please join us to take your knowledge to the next level!
3-DAY (NOVEMBER 18-20): FUNDAMENTALS & ADVANCED
The 3-day Smaart Operator: Fundamentals & Advanced class is a combination of the Fundamentals and Advanced curriculums. The first two days will cover the fundamentals of setting up and configuring a Smaart measurement rig and using Smaart v9 to make basic RTA, Spectrograph, and Transfer Function measurements.
This course begins with an overview of both the general system measurement theory involved as well as the operational context in which Smaart is used, namely in Sound System Engineering and Alignment. This course focuses on providing the attendee with a functional knowledge of how Smaart operates as a tool before expanding to the application of that tool in sound system engineering, and as much as possible, examines data interpretation as much as acquisition.
On day #3, the class will take a deeper dive into various topics which extend beyond the Fundamentals course curriculum. Attendees can expect an immersive hands-on experience showing Smaart v9 being used through various exercises designed to emulate real-world alignment and optimization tasks.
Attendees will not need a computer for day three.
The Smaart Operator: Fundamentals in person class is certified for 6.5 renewal units (RUs) in the Avixa CTS General, CTS-I (installation), or CTS-D (design) programs.
2-DAY (NOVEMBER 18 & 19): FUNDAMENTALS
The 2-day Smaart Operator: Fundamentals class will cover the fundamentals of setting up and configuring a Smaart measurement rig and using Smaart v9 to make RTA, Spectrograph, and Transfer Function measurements.

Attendees can expect an immersive hands-on experience showing Smaart v9 being used through various exercises designed to emulate real-world alignment and optimization tasks.
Attendees will need a computer for both days. Class structure will be a mix of theory and practical application.

1- DAY (NOVEMBER 20): ADVANCED
The 1-day Smaart Operator: Advanced class picks up where Smaart Operator: Fundamentals leaves off, taking a deeper dive into various topics which extend beyond the Fundamentals course curriculum. Attendees can expect an immersive hands-on experience using Smaart v9 through various exercises designed to emulate real-world alignment and optimization tasks.
All attendees are required to have received Smaart Operator Level 1 Certification prior to registering or provide proof that they previously completed an in-person or online Smaart Operator: Fundamentals course.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The course will run from 9AM - 5PM daily, with a one hour lunch break and a morning and afternoon break. While lunch will not be provided, there is an on-site cafe and several options nearby. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own food if they prefer.
