Despite rumors to the contrary, we _do_ ride on the west side of town, and next week we return to Jefferson Park with only six weeks remaining on our 2025 schedule (half of our remaining rides will start in the western half of Cleveland, including our season-ending Halloween ride in Ohio City.)
Jefferson has hosted many memorable Slow Rolls over the years and Monday is sure to not be an exception. We've been generally blessed with mellow crowds and friendly neighbors in this neck of the woods, including the time a few years ago when rain forced us to move the ride to Tuesday; we were delighted to see people coming out of their houses, smiling and waving as we shouted "Happy Tuesday" at them.
We will set up at Jefferson Park by 6 PM for shirts and registration, and we will roll out at 7 PM.
Parking can be easily found along either W. 133rd or W. 132nd streets. which run along the lengthy park and into the surrounding neighborhoods. Look for us near the official park entrance on Lorain Ave.
It is getting dark, and we do encourage all riders to light up their bikes and help turn us into a moving parade of lights. At the bare minimum, please make sure you have a front headlight and a red rear light.
And now the not-so-fun stuff. We'd like to remind our riders that Slow Roll is a family-friendly ride. Loud music with offensive lyrics is not ok. Drinking while riding with us -- even if you're drinking before the ride and during regroups -- is absolutely not allowed. If we catch you doing it, we will ask you to leave the ride. Smoking during rides is also kind of weird and unfriendly; don't do this. Again, consider the fact that you're _riding next to kids_. Act like an adult so we don't have to tell you to act like an adult.
Along with this go a few other responsibilities, namely the responsibility to ride in a responsible manner and not be the reason Squad is constantly having to chase after you and nag you to stay to the right or not to ride on sidewalks. We repeat these rules before EACH AND EVERY RIDE. If you're not following them, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. Note that the VAST majority of our riders have no problem following these rules. Only a few people are causing these problems.
This is not a critical mass ride. Everything goes, in fact, is not our motto. There is a structure to a Slow Roll and we have our own way of doing things.
If you cannot abide by our ways, you can form a club with some friends and do whatever you like. But this is our club, and the hundreds of people who ride with us without a problem every week can testify that what we do works. Thank you for your cooperation. And for the vast majority not causing problems for the rest of us, thank you. You help make Slow Roll what it is today, and you're the reason we put these rides on 20+ times a year.
