Slow Flow & Stories: Yoga for Readers
About this Event
Readers of every genre, this is your invitation to nourish your whole self through movement, rest, and community.
Join us at Good Girl Books for a 60-minute beginner-friendly slow flow yoga practice, specifically created for readers and held amongst the shelves before the store opens to the public. Class ends with a sound bath during savasana–the perfect start to a summer morning!
Please bring a yoga mat, a blanket or beach towel, and wear layers to stay cozy and warm during the sound bath.
About the instructor:
Ashley Smaldino is a Certified Yoga Therapist who has been teaching group classes since 2018. When she's not teaching yoga or working with private clients, you will most likely find her with a romance or fantasy book in hand (or in her ears, because audiobooks absolutely count!).
Ashley first discovered yoga in 2012, but at the start of her chronic illness journey in 2013, her practice shifted from power vinyasa flows to gentler practices like Yin and Restorative Yoga. Her yoga mat became a place of refuge — somewhere she could meet herself with compassion and loving presence. After rediscovering her love for reading during the pandemic (thank you, ACOTAR series!), Ashley realized that books, like yoga, can offer a soft place to land for our hearts and minds and that stories have the power to open us up to more joy, love, connection and self-discovery.As author Stephen King wrote, "Books are a uniquely portable magic."
