Slow Down with us at the Columbus Botanical Garden Saturdays in September and October. Spending time outside has countless benefits including stress relief, improving mental clarity, stimulating creativity and innovative thinking and can foster family bonding!
Each week will offer different activities for ways to be mindful in nature, using our different senses and learning about how plants and animals also use these senses. This opportunity is great for all ages, from child to adult, anyone can discover something new when you take the time to slow down in nature! Come join us for a Slow Down Saturday at CBG!

September 7th - Mindfulness in Nature
Join us for our first Slow Down Saturday all about being mindful in nature, using observational skills and spending dedicated time outside looking, listening and enjoying all that nature has to offer!
Guided mindfulness walk in the Sam M. Wellborn Camellia Garden with Mary Liwanag
Adult Mindfulness Walk at 9am
Kids and Family Mindfulness Walk at 10:30am

September 21st - Smell
Have you ever heard the phrase “Be sure to stop and smell the roses”? Well there’s a lot more to stop and smell if you take the opportunity to slow down in nature! Join us for Slow Down Saturday as we focus on our sense of SMELL!

September 28th - Touch
Reconnect with nature by using your sense of TOUCH at Slow Down Saturday! Nature offers lots of different textures and feelings, from rough bark, to slimy snails, to cool water, to smooth stones it gives a whole new perspective for observation.

October 5th - Sight
Our sense of SIGHT is typically how we experience nature, but when was the last time you focused on all the details? Join us at Slow Down Saturday to explore the visual wonders that are all around us in nature!

October 12th - Taste
TASTE isn’t always a sense that we use in nature, but it’s often enjoyable when you do! Come experience some of the great tastes that a garden can offer, take some time to slow down and enjoy nature’s flavors!

October 19th - Hearing
Immerse yourself into the symphony of the natural world and the sounds of nature at our final Slow Down Saturday! Take some time to use your sense of HEARING to listen to the bird songs, the rustling of trees, the many bugs and insects that support our garden and more! You’ll be surprised what you can hear when you take a moment to listen.
