OKGBMutating indie outfit OKGB dodges easy description with their effusive brand of post-punk. These energetic tunes bounce while the vocals oscillate between Mark E. Smith’s banshee shouts and Chad VanGaalen's crooning melodies. Composed mainly of Calgary expats, OKGB has honed their live sets to deliver catchy pop-punk hooks with verve and an uppercut.
Smokey
Step into the shadowed plains with Smokey as your guide, and delve into the whispered tales embedded in the calloused hands of prairie folk. On his latest single “Your Beast,” Smokey unravels mysteries through mischievous acoustic melodies and gothic narratives, giving a voice to the eerie tales of the isolated western prairies that will echo through your soul – and eardrums.
WUT
West Coast trio WUT say they make “sweet sounding songs about not-so sweet topics.” You can hear it on the pop-punk/indie-pop bops throughout their 2020 album NOW on tracks like “Hazardous Conditions.” The band’s next move is to release a new full-length at some point this summer.
Double Rider
After a decade of performing and touring together, classic rock power-trio Double Rider has unveiled its first album to the world. Featuring songs written by the band’s late grandfather Matthew Many Heads, Times of the Day is both an homage to Indigenous life and a fresh take on bluesy soft rock.
