Some things fall apart.
Some things are abandoned, weathered by time, reclaimed by nature, broken beyond repair... or maybe just dropped too many times!
South Lake Artists' Co-op is putting together a new exhibition at Sip Coffee House 2 in Highland, Indiana, and our next theme is Ruined! 😱 No, don’t worry, the show’s not ruined, it’s called “Ruined”!
We're leaving this one wide open
(but it has to be apparent or we’ll ask you to explain).
Maybe it's a deteriorating castle, a totaled bicycle, a favorite toy with one too many repairs!, an old photograph that's faded with age, or a forgotten building slowly disappearing beneath vines.
Maybe it's an overcooked dinner, a sandcastle crumbling into the rising tide, a ruined vacation, a spilled cup of coffee, a dropped ice cream cone, or the moment everything went hilariously wrong.
Or maybe "ruined" has nothing to do with objects at all. It could be a relationship, a reputation, a landscape after a storm, a dream that never happened, or something that was forever changed.
Maybe even one’s self has felt “ruined” before. *hug*🫂
Your work can be serious, heartbreaking, nostalgic, humorous, surreal, or completely unexpected. We want to see how you interpret the word ruined.
All mediums are welcome as long as the work can be safely mounted to the wall with proper wiring.

⏰ 3-6 PM
(If you can’t make the scheduled drop-off time, please contact a SLAC admin PRIOR to drop-off or ASAP to make arrangements.)
— Please sign in your pieces on the provided sheet
— Do not leave artwork unattended or with coffee shop staff without notifying a SLAC admin
— Attach a tag to the back of your piece with your name, title, and price (or NFS)
Important Dates:
Submissions due: 8-17-26
Notifications sent: 8-18-26
Art drop off at Highland Sip: 8-23-26 3-6pm
Installation day: 8-23-26
Opening: 8-28-26 7pm
Closing: 1-9-27
Pick up: Tentatively 1-10-27, Subject to change
