The first ever SLA Swap Meet is happening next month! Start 2025 off by decluttering!
We have a reservation booked at the Fairground Rd. Rec Center in Florence for February 22nd, from 1:00-5:00pm.
This will be a swap meet style event. Think of it as a free yard sale. We will have tables and chairs for hanging out! Everyone is welcome. The rec center also has 2 pool tables.
Bring however many items you want. If you bring 50 items, you’ll get 50 tokens, and we will rotate shopping each other’s stuff. In the spirit of giving, everyone will get 10 tokens whether they bring anything or not! I personally need to leave with a lot less than I show up with!
The goal of this event is for us to limit our economic spending by trade and to help us build a sense of community.
Any household items welcome! Example: clothing, books/digital media, dishes, appliances, trinkets, gadgets, Christmas presents you don’t want, sealed food that you bought, but will probably never eat, toiletries like a shampoo you tried once and didn’t like, etc. Anything you think would be useful to someone else.
Just count the number of items you plan to bring, and you’ll know how many tokens you get. This is the fairest way I can think of to do it. Obviously, some people will have more junk than others (me, I’m some people). If you don’t want more stuff and just want to get rid of things, of course feel free to just hang out and let people shop your stash. Whatever is left can be donated.
I look forward to seeing you there. I will get there at 1:00 to start setting up. Feel free to come by any time that works for you. We have to be out by 5:00, so we’ll probably try to clean everything up around 4:30. I’d recommend bringing a large bag or box to carry your things out in.
