Rules
Players are expected to wear the team T-shirt to all practices and games once provided, black socks, and black shorts. Shinguards and soccer cleats are not required. Parents are expected to participate with their children in fine motor skill activities and games until the child is ready to participate comfortably on their own. A guardian must be available at all times. Spots are limited to 24 players. Coaches will provide the soccer balls for all events. No events will take place during the school holidays. Practices may be moved indoors due to weather. Participants assume financial responsibility regardless of illness.
-Arrive 5 minutes before practice and games to get the kids acclimatized to the setting. Kick around with them in the field and have some fun.
-Bring water
-Wear game-day attire for practices and games (Shinguards, black socks, black shorts, and team jersey).
-DO NOT BRING A BALL. SL coaches will provide the balls. Some activities require kids to use several balls so we are trying to prevent them from being upset about someone else using theirs.
-After the first two training sessions, your player will be assigned to a team: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, or USA. Players will be assigned to a team by ability level as to not "stack" a team. Our goal is to have each team and each player challenged by the way we manipulate the playing environment.
-We have SIX games and SIX practices scheduled with one RAIN OUT date scheduled.
-Absences: If you will be late or absent from any game or practices, you need to notify Soccer Little through text to (469) 737-0841 by letting us know the player name and the word ABSENT or LATE. Please do so in a timely manner.
Format
Training will take place once or twice a week. Players will arrive and have a fun warm-up together. Players will then be split by age and/or ability level regardless of what team they are assigned to. The younger group will always practice at the scheduled time (30 minutes long). The older group will practice 30 minutes after (Schudule reads 5:30 PM. The older group will begin at 6:00 PM). This will help the little ones be challenged by other kiddos with similar abilities. Parents of players who are still getting familiar with the coaches and the setting are encouraged to participate with them until they feel more comfortable being with their coach. If your player is more independent, we kindly ask that you remain outside the training area and enjoy watching them learn and have fun!
Games will have three-thirds of 6-8 minutes each. Players will be paired by similar ability levels to their opponents to continue to encourage a challenging but not frustrating environment. The coaches will be the referees to help and give players reminders to help them be successful in the game. Coaches may play around with the pairings of players from time to time to help struggling players get some success! So a game may at times turn into a 2v1 or it could turn into a 3v1. Coaches will assess when to end the quarter to make sure players are not asking when the game ends but instead ask for more!
During games, we ask parents to remain near their children if they aren't on the field to help the coaches substitute them quickly. Parents whose players are on the field are asked to minimize loud encouragement and to desist from coaching from the sideline (Any kind of direction that leads to an action). What we are trying to prevent by this is sensory overload.
