About this Event

Calling Epic 8th-12th Grade Students!

Join us as Epic Charter Schools heads to Skyline in Oklahoma City on November 19th for a day of giving back to our community. Skyline is a local OKC non-profit center whose mission is to serve those living in the shadows of our community by bridging the gaps in their resources with kindness and respect. Volunteers like you are essential to Skyline!

What to Expect: Some students will be working in the Food Resource Center: Stocking and bagging groceries for patrons. Others will be working in the Warehouse: Organizing items, such as making boxes for our mobile pantry, sorting canned goods, etc. Some students may also be helping in the Clothing Closet: Organizing clothing and donations.

If you are a student seeking service hours/credit, this opportunity will help you fulfill your requirements. For more information about this location, click the link at the bottom of this page.

This Community Service Opportunity is for Epic Charter School Students as well as their parents and Epic Staff. *Limited number of spots for parents. Parents, if you cannot reserve a spot, there is a waiting room that you are welcome to stay in.

Students: Epic student email accounts cannot receive emails from Eventbrite. Therefore, you will need to provide an alternative email address where you can receive the registration confirmation and all updates that are sent about this event.

Parking & Entering: Park in the small lot on the west side of SE 15th and Byers. You will then walk across the street and through the open gate into a small gated parking lot and continue straight along the sidewalk by the building until you see our Epic Staff waiting by the set of double doors.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE: Upon arrival, please check in with an Epic Family Engagement staff member who will be in Epic gear and located inside the entrance.

Schedule: Please only sign up for one shift. Either the morning or the afternoon shift, so that other students can also volunteer.

Morning Shift:

  • 9:00am Volunteer Check In
  • 9:00am- 12:00pm Volunteer Time
  • 12:00pm Conclusion

Afternoon Shift:

  • 12:00pm Volunteer Check In
  • 12:00pm- 2:00pm Volunteer Time
  • 2:00pm Conclusion

What to Wear: Comfortable Clothing, Shirts with Sleeves, closed-toe shoes

Waivers: You will be required to complete a brief online waiver upon arrival.

Lockers: You will be provided a small locker with a lock and key to store personal belongings. Please do not leave purses in your cars.

Why is this for 8th-12th Graders? This Community Service Opportunity is for Epic Charter School students in grades 8th and up at the request of Skyline, as this is their policy for the safety of volunteers. Parents or guardians & Epic Staff are encouraged and welcome to volunteer; however, limited spots are open for guests, as our first priority is for our students to volunteer in the open spots. There is a waiting room for adults.

Policies: Students cannot be dropped off to attend without a parent or guardian unless the student is of driving age and drives themselves.

You will register using Eventbrite, which will hold your spot as a reservation. This enables the school and the location to staff and plan appropriately.

Pathways Students: Pathways students may only participate when attending with their own enrolled Epic child. Please register as a guest, not as a student, since student reservations are for students age 18 and under only.

Media Policy: This is a public event, and photographs and/or video may be taken during the activity. If you prefer your student not to have a photograph or video taken, please let our Epic Family Engagement staff know during check-in.

Inclement Weather Plan: If we have inclement weather, we will send out communication by email through Eventbrite to let you know if the event has been canceled.

Service Animals: This location does not allow service animals due to the food packing that is within the facility.

Sensory Bags: Sensory bags will be available to check out for use at this event. Upon arrival, see any Epic Family Engagement team member to check a bag out and return all sensory bags to an Epic Family Engagement team member before leaving the event.

Sign Language Services: To request a sign language interpreter for an Epic student at this event, please use this link: ASL Request Link. Requests must be submitted at least 72 hours in advance of the event. The link can also be found on the Epic under the About tab → Requests & Forms.

Cancellations: How do I cancel my reservation? To cancel the reservation and allow other students to attend in those spots, you will go to the email sent from Eventbrite with the subject line: Your Tickets for the Skyline OKC Community Service. Then scroll to the bottom of the email and click the words "View and Manage your online order." This will open up spots for other families and is very important, as the location needs accurate numbers before we arrive.
