Every First Thursday, Sky Gallery kicks off the month with a new artist featured on the Sky Gallery Presents: walls located at the front of the store. After an opening reception the show hangs for sale all month long, along with Sky Gallery's 85+ other resident artists' work.
JustArts, based in Tulsa, shows and sells the work of several exceptionally talented artists from across the country whose lives have been directly impacted by the carceral system. Income generated through sales goes back to the artists. Wendy Jason, who recently launched JustArts, has worked in support of and solidarity with system-impacted artists for over 15 years. She founded and served as executive director of a national organization that facilitated exhibition, publication, sales, and community-building opportunities for hundreds of incarcerated artists. Wendy now offers consulting and facilitation services to assist organizations and community groups in developing and expanding arts programming that engages people in prison while working directly with artists inside to ensure that their voices reach far beyond prison walls and that they are equitably compensated and acknowledged for their creative work.
