Accompany Environmental Educator Sam Romeo on a search for this alien-looking, fascinating native plant! One of the earliest blooming wildflowers, the Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus) is found in marshy deciduous woods, alongside streams and wetlands, and in other moist habitats. Join the search to find these funky plants, one of the few plants to exhibit thermogenesis – the ability to generate heat – so that it can bloom while there is still snow on the ground. You must pre-register for this walk. Visit https://tickets.audubon.org/aullwood/events to sign up. This event is free for members of Friends of Aullwood, National Audubon Society & ANCA with membership card or receipt. Non-members attending pay regular Aullwood admission. Questions? Call 937-890-7360 or email [email protected]. (Center)
