Doors open at 1:30 pm. The program starts at 2:00 pm and runs approximately 50 minutes. Light refreshments will be available before and after the program.
After a summer tour of 52 shows in 51 days, “Skippy The Drum Machine” makes its Kansas City metro debut! It is an educational concert showing how music is made through the voice, body, and beatboxing, the art of making drum sounds with your mouth. Led by Luke “Skippy” Harbur, you’ll learn something new, make silly sounds, wiggle your body, and leave with tools for how to make your own music! No experience necessary: no matter your age, this program proves we are all smarter, kinder, and better together!
This concert includes a live reading of "Boots, Andy, Cats: a world for all ages, shapes, and sizes," Skippy's first book! The children's book is available for purchase as a ticket bundle option, after the program, and at www.BootsAndyCatsWorld.com
Tell me about the artist, Luke "Skippy" Harbur
“Pause. Play. Be Kind. Make A Difference." These are the four pillars of Luke “Skippy” Harbur, creating thought-provoking experiences for multigenerational audiences as a full-time educator, performer, and producer. Through public speaking, beatboxing, and other skills his work celebrates authenticity and combats social isolation.
Based out of Kansas City, Missouri, the Overland Park, KS native began full-time freelancing in November 2021. As an educator, public speaking topics include staying motivatd under stress, managing mental health, and community building. As a performer, his project musicbyskippy contains over 75 original songs. As a producer, his company LSH Productions manages creative projects serving thousands of live arts, literary, and entrepreneurship patrons annually.
Living through four near death experiences before age 30 defines his mission: nurture the kind, goofy, and critical thinking person living inside everyone.

Tell me about the venue, The Culture House Stage and Studio.
The Culture House Stage & Studio is located at Oak Park Mall and serves as liaison to the public for The Culture House. The Stage & Studio features a gift shop and also a 130-seat theatre space that can be rented by the public for family-friendly performances, speakers, meetings, parties and more.
