Skipjack Race Watch Party on MILDRED BELLE
About this Event
In cooperation with the Maryland Seafood Festival and Skipjack Heritage Days, we are offering an opportunity to watch the Skipjack Races on Sunday September 13 from Sandy Point State Park. We will get underway in time to see the Skipajck Parade of Sail that starts at 11am and be there on the starting line when the gun goes off around 12pm.
Come watch this exciting race with us! You are welcome to bring your own food and drinks. We will try to stay out for the duration of the race and hopefully will see the first few skipjack cross the starting line before we head into the dock around 1:30pm.
During our April to November sailing season, MILDRED BELLE offers unique hands-on science and team building adventures for students from schools all over the state of Maryland. All money generated will go to underwrite our education programs.

Info: Watch the excitement as skipjacks jockey for position on the starting line near the Sandy Point Lighthouse. The starting gun goes off at 12:10pm.

Info: The race will officially be declared "over" at 1:30pm, but given wind and conditions on the day of the event, some boats may not have finished by then. We will see as many skipjacks cross the line as we can before heading into the dock on time to disembark passengers. We will keep to the scheduled times as closely as possible while watching this dynamic and unpredictable event.
