Role Reversal and Timelines in Psychodrama

Some of the most powerful moments in psychodrama occur when a protagonist is invited to step into the world of another—and when they are invited to step into their own life across time. Role Reversal and Timelines are core psychodramatic structures that deepen empathy, shift perspective, and restore a sense of continuity and hope.

Grounded in the work of J. L. Moreno, Role Reversal supports true encounter by allowing participants to experience life through the eyes of another. Timelines and Future Projection extend this work across past, present, and future, helping clients reconnect with resilience, meaning, and a hoped-for life.

In this workshop you will learn:

• How to facilitate role reversal with clarity, containment, and purpose
• The steps to interviewing for roles to support encounter and deepen warm up in the role of other.
• When and how to use role reversal while directing a vignette
• How to direct lifelines, silver threads and golden moments.
• The basics of guiding Future Projection to support hope and agency
• How to pace action and support integration ethically

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for psychodrama trainees, therapists, and group facilitators seeking to strengthen their directing skills and deepen their use of action methods.

Certification

6 psychodrama training hours will be awarded towards certification with the ABE (American Board of Examiners).
