Presentation Details:
Join us for a discussion with Dillon Osleger—a geologist, professional mountain biker, and environmental advocate. He will read from his book, Trail Work: A Memoir of Public Lands, Loss, and the Hidden History Beneath Our Feet.
With an academic background in climate science and over a decade of field experience in trail restoration and land management across the American West, Osleger's investigative work has been featured in Outside, Patagonia’s The Cleanest Line, and The Los Angeles Times.
- The Vulnerability of Public Lands: An objective breakdown of how ongoing funding cuts and government shutdowns are forcing America's public lands into a "vulnerable zone of sacrifice".
- The Mechanics of Erasure: An analysis tracing how the physical loss of our nation's trails progresses in lockstep with the continuous, encroaching enclosure of public land.
- A Cartographer’s Lens: A historical and spatial deep dive into the complex networks of public lands, revealing the hidden history beneath the paths we ride and hike.
