An introductory sketch writing course.
About this Event
This introductory sketch writing course will teach you the fundamentals of sketch structure, the different types of sketches and overall the basics of sketch comedy writing. Learn to shape and polish your creative ideas for the stage or video. Receive feedback on your work, pitch and collaborate with others as you would in an actual sketch team meeting and leave the course with sketches of your own authorship. Bring a notebook to take notes and a laptop/tablet/phone to read sketches on. This 8-week course will culminate with a week 9 table read of the students' sketches.
Sessions will meet at the theater at 1215 Baker St from 1pm-3pm Sundays from August 23rd through October 18th. The first 8 weeks are class, and the the final week, October 18th, will be a table read.
Teacher: Jared Lomeli is a writer and performer from Chino Hills, California. He has performed sketch all around Orange County and LA County. He has been trained at the Pack Theater, UCB LA, UCB NY, and The Squirrel Theater. He is looking forward to bringing everything he has learned and experienced from being on his sketch group Friendo and the Maude Team LA City Council to the classroom.
