Kinetic retro-modern psych/surf/world/garage revival pilgrims with unusual guitars, killer riffs, electrifying live shows, a rather large saxophone and perhaps a matching outfit or five, Skeleton Goode has had a busy couple of years, supporting 12-time Grammy winner Jack White on his acclaimed Supply Chain Issues Tour, and opening for such legendary acts as The Black Lips and Frank Turner, as well as playing the iconic HOZO festival to a ten-thousand strong crowd, while extensively touring Japan and Southeast Asia. Playing for the first time in Central Vietnam.
The La Belle et La Bête
Founded in 2014 while wandering far away from France, pioneer art-rock ensemble The La Belle et La Bête once again reunites to unleash a chaotic concoction of decadent rock, cabaret, avant-metal, circus, and gypsy vibes with a dash of questionable taste. If they are not the most energetically irrational live act in Vietnam, we are ever so slightly worried for the one that is (but, wow, the sound they make sure is beautiful).
Waka Band
Drum, bass and guitar trio Waka Band, currently based in Da Nang, likens their sound to Khruangbin and Glass Beams, and the connection can be heard in their sensuously solid grooves, spacey/spicy melodic textures and general air of cosmic mystery, but with twists and turns towards North Africa and a unique approach that sets them firmly in their own funky, earthy dream world.
Rounding out the evening are poet, musical encyclopedia and selecta Manu Orkestar who will provide a passionately curated musical playlist between live acts, and local photo artist Boris Zuliani of Môt Mét Studio on hand to take bespoke “wet plate process” portraits of guests.
Halcyon Beach Club An Bang is fresh off a massively good time with Mungo’s Hi-Fi turning their charming beachfront restaurant-bar-club space into a dance floor for hundreds of revelers.
