Sizwe Mashinini released his debut album, 'The Child is Born,' in 2016. Since then, he has released four chapters in the series and two standalone singles.
Deeply fascinated by the richness of Swati rhythmic heritage, Sizwe’s work explores the relationship between African musical tradition and contemporary technology. Through his compositions, he seeks to fuse traditional African rhythmic sound with modern sonic approaches, creating music that honours its roots while positioning African sound within a contemporary global musical landscape.
As he celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Child is Born, this performance marks not only a celebration of the journey so far, but also an opportunity for audiences to witness his artistic evolution from being known primarily as a jazz pianist to embracing a more atmospheric and expansive musical identity.
Alongside the performance, Sizwe Mashinini will introduce a new release, The Child is Born 5, which will be available both online and in physical format, together with exclusive merchandise.
