Sitar Soundscape with Nishit Dey
Join us on an evening of mesmerizing soundscape and dive into your inner silent space.
The evening will comprise of an intimate exchange between the artist and the listeners, the artist sharing his knowledge and experience of classical music as an extension of the recital created from the performance of raga on the Sitar.
About the artist:
Nishit Dey, is the 4 th generation of artiste in the prestigious “Dey” family of Mymensingh. His journey started through learning the tabla at a very tender age, from his father and noted guru, late, Sanjib Dey. Later on, he took vocal lessons from his uncle, noted musician Asit Dey. His movement towards the sitar started around 2004, through the guidance of Sheikh Sattar Muhammed, who was a student of Ustad Vilayat Khan and family. After Sheikh Sattar’s demise in 2009, Nishit has learned from pt. Ashim Chowdhury and Pt. Kushal Das, under both Imdadkhani and Maihar gharana style of recital. Nishit has performed regularly at home and abroad, for over 15 years. Besides performing, Nishit is also on a mission of creating more sitar players in the country, by teaching students through very modern and easy techniques.
