SisterPlay tells the true story of Lisa Ostler—lost in the system, remembered through art. Help bring her story to the stage.
About this Event

What happens when the system stops seeing a person?

SisterPlay tells the true story of Lisa Ostler, whose final days in the Salt Lake County Metro J*il are brought to life through a deeply human blend of memory, reflection, and reality. As her older sister pieces together what happened, we witness Lisa’s battles with trauma, addiction, and mental illness—and the devastating consequences of being unseen by the institutions meant to protect her.

Written and directed by Lisa’s sister, Elizabeth Ostler, SisterPlay is raw, honest, and deeply personal. It’s a tribute to a life that mattered—and a call to confront the systems that failed her.

This fundraiser will help bring SisterPlay to stages in Salt Lake City and New York City in 2026. Marking the 10 year anniversary of Lisa’s death.

During the fundraiser:

  • Excerpts from the play will be performed
  • Elizabeth Ostler will talk about the play and Lisa
  • Rocky Anderson will speak about Lisa’s wrongful death case and the state of jails in Salt Lake City
  • A silent auction with exciting items and experiences (in-person and virtual).

This will be an evening of connection, reflection, and purpose among those who care about justice, art, and community.

It is your chance to make a direct impact, help this story reach audiences in Salt Lake City and New York City.

Together, we can honor Lisa’s memory by making sure her story—and others like hers—are finally seen and heard.

Please join us in bringing SisterPlay to the stage. Your generosity will help transform loss into action.

Your support, of any amount, is needed and appreciated.

If you are unable to attend, you can donate here.

All donations are tax-deductible through The Field, which serves as our non-profit fiscal sponsor.
