Sometimes a group of musicians sit down together to jam, and magic happens.For Sister Sadie, the groundbreaking, all-female bluegrass band, that happened during a one-off jam session at Nashville’s legendary Station Inn. Their chemistry transformed a casual collaboration into a full-time powerhouse. Today, Sister Sadie is known for electrifying performances, stellar musicianship, and the seamless blend of tradition and innovation they bring to bluegrass music. Sister Sadie has released three critically acclaimed albums: their debut album, 2016’s Sister Sadie, introduced them to the world; their sophomore release, Sister Sadie II, in 2018, solidified their reputation as one of the leading acts in bluegrass. That album earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Bluegrass Album.” The group’s third album, No Fear, in 2024, was a triumphant return to recording. From “Diane,” a spirited cover debuted at the IBMA awards in 2023 to the chart-topping “Willow,” the album showcases the artistry and fearless spirit that makes the band a leading voice in bluegrass. It also earned them their second Grammy nod.
Sister Sadie has won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Vocal Group of the Year Award three times, in 2019, 2020, and 2021, as well as Entertainers of the Year in 2020. The awards highlighted their exceptional harmonies and innovative arrangements. Whether performing at the Grand Ole Opry, headlining major festivals, or recording, Sister Sadie exemplifies the spirit of bluegrass while pushing its boundaries. Their commitment to storytelling, technical prowess, and heartfelt performances keeps them at the forefront of the genre.
The six members of Sister Sadie are all talented musicians, each with a rich history of individual achievement. They include: Gena Britt (banjo, vocals) is a bluegrass veteran with a career spanning decades. She has performed with Petticoat Junction, New Vintage, and the Alan Bibey Project. A highly sought-after banjo player, she is a past nominee for IBMA Banjo Player of the year.
Deanie Richardson (fiddle) is known both for fiery fiddling and emotional depth that have made her a standout in bluegrass and country music. A Grammy-nominated artist, she has toured and recorded with legends such as Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, and The Chieftains. She was named Fiddle Player of the Year by IBMA in 2020 and 2024.
Jaelee Roberts (guitar, lead vocals) is a rising star with roots in a musical family. Her soulful voice and dynamic stage presence have established her as one of the brightest young talents in bluegrass. She was awarded the IBMA Momentum Vocalist of the Year in 2021 and Vocalist of the Year in 2024.
Dani Flowers (guitar, vocals) is a multi-talented artist whose skills as a songwriter, vocalist, and instrumentalist bring depth to Sister Sadie’s repertoire. Her contributions to the band include crafting harmonies, delivering heartfelt guitar work, and providing a layer of storytelling that resonates with the audience.
Maddie Dalton (bass) is a young but formidable talent whose rock-solid bass playing and vocals anchor Sister Sadie’s sound. Maddie, a rising star in the industry, was the recipient of the Instrumentalist of the Year Award at the 2023 IBMAs.
Rainy Maitake (mandolin, vocals) is the newest addition to Sister Sadie. She brings a fresh perspective and extraordinary skill set; her mandolin playing enriches the group’s signature sound.
