Dancehall royalty is coming to Tacoma.
Airport Tavern Music Hall is proud to welcome Sister Nancy, the legendary Jamaican artist whose voice helped break open the doors for women in dancehall and reggae. Widely celebrated as a trailblazer and the voice behind the iconic anthem “Bam Bam,” Sister Nancy’s influence reaches far beyond reggae—her music has echoed through generations of dancehall, hip hop, and global sound system culture. In recent years, her legacy has only grown, with a new documentary and continued international recognition shining an even bigger light on her impact.
Backing the night is The Rootsonic Band, a live reggae backing band and production crew that has performed with artists including Sister Nancy, Luciano, Winston Jarrett, Everton Blender, and Anthony B, bringing real roots-and-culture fire to the stage.
Opening things up are Tacoma’s own Stay Grounded, a hardworking Pacific Northwest group that has been building since 2011 with a sound that blends modern pop, R&B, rock, and island reggae, all tied together with messages of unity, positivity, and empowerment.
