About this Event
Are you ready to start the new year with better sewing skills, less screen time and a unique handmade tote?
The Sip & Sew series is a beginner-friendly sewing workshop designed to help you practice sewing skills on a modern sewing machine. In this month's workshop you'll cut and sew a one of a kind tote bag perfect for the gym, groceries, or carrying craft supplies. Sip and Sew isn’t about perfection or fancy projects. It’s about building confidence, learning the basics, and having fun while you do it.
During this relaxed, social workshop, you’ll learn:
- Sewing machine basics and safe operation
- How to sew load bearing seams, different stitches, and troubleshoot common issues
- How to attach secure handles
- Pocket making skills that transfer to other sewing skills like patching, mending, and simple repairs
- Plus suggestions for how to work with fabric scraps and upcycle what you already have
You’ll have the option to use provided materials or bring some fabric from home you’d like to repurpose. Our experienced instructor will guide you throughout the session, offering step by step guidance as well as hands-on support and encouragement.
Perfect for anyone who’s been saying “I never get to use my sewing machine!"
