Sip and Paint On The Square

A Your District at Play event — a free community event bringing creativity, connection, and public space energy to downtown Oakland.

Now in its third year, Sip & Paint returns on Thursday, August 20 with a new home at Latham Square. After two great years at Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, we are excited to bring this favorite community gathering to a new downtown public space.

This year’s Sip & Paint is part of OakTown Thursday, an evening celebrating live music, local food, vendors, art, Pride, and the community. Whether you have joined us before or are coming for the first time, this is a chance to unwind, connect with neighbors and friends, and enjoy a creative evening in the heart of the downtown.

We are also excited to welcome back local favorite LCX Art as our returning Sip & Paint instructor. LCX Art will guide guests step by step through a beginner-friendly painting experience. No experience is needed. Just bring yourself, your creative energy, and a friend or two.

To our Sip & Paint regulars who have joined us over the past two years — thank you for helping make this event such a special part of our summer programming. We look forward to seeing familiar faces again as well as new faces.

• Guided Sip & Paint Session
  LCX Art will lead a fun, beginner-friendly painting session with all supplies provided. Guests will leave with their own canvas and a creative memory from the evening.
• A New Downtown Location
  This year’s event moves to Latham Square, creating a fresh setting for art, connection, and public space activation.
• Part of OakTown Thursday
  The evening continues beyond the painting table with live music, food, vendors, art, Pride celebration, and community energy throughout the area.
• Free Community Event
  Sip & Paint is free and open to the community. Space and supplies are limited.
• First Come, First Served
  Painting spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival is encouraged.
• RSVP Encouraged
  RSVPs help us plan for seating, supplies, and event flow.

• Comfortable clothes you do not mind getting a little paint on.
• Your creative energy.
• A friend, coworker, neighbor, or someone who could use a fun evening downtown.
