The Smoke Returns to Athens: 3rd Annual Singing River Smoke-O-Rama BBQ Festival Announced for March 2026ATHENS, AL – Fire up the grills and sharpen the knives! The Singing River Smoke-O-Rama BBQ Festival is officially returning to Athens, Alabama, on March 27th and 28th, 2026.
Now in its third year, this KCBS-sanctioned competition will bring the finest pitmasters from across the region to compete for top honors and bragging rights. But the Smoke-O-Rama is more than just a competition; it’s a community celebration with a heart. All proceeds from the 2026 event will go directly toward supporting the Athens Police Department’s "Shop with a Cop" initiative and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Special Needs Rodeo.
Event Highlights Include:
The Main Event: A sanctioned BBQ battle where teams compete in multiple categories.
People’s Choice: Fans can purchase tickets to sample world-class BBQ and vote for their favorite.
Family Fun: A dedicated Kids Que contest, local craft vendors, and various food trucks offering a variety of treats.
Friday Night Kickoff: Join us Friday evening for ancillary contests and a first look at the teams in action.
“We are thrilled to bring this event back for a third year,” says the Smoke-O-Rama committee. “It’s about great food, great music, and most importantly, giving back to the community that makes North Alabama home.”
