Musical Team: Conductor: Patrick Barrett | Section Coaches: Chamber Choir Ireland soloists
As the country's national chamber choir, Chamber Choir Ireland holds a unique place in the cultural life of Ireland. Through broadcasts, streaming, and live performances, they bring the joy of world-class choral music to over a million listeners each year. Chamber Choir Ireland has built a stellar reputation as Ireland's premier professional choral ensemble, with awe-inspiring performances at home and abroad, described as "a fine reminder of the power and beauty that voices alone can achieve" (Goldenplec, 2022).
Abbi Temple, Soprano
Abbi studied music at Royal Holloway (University of London) and singing at Trinity College of Music, London, and has enjoyed a varied freelance career, combining opera, oratorio, choral and recital singing, along with teaching singing in schools and privately, and working with choirs. As well as singing with Chamber Choir Ireland, Abbi has sung with various UK and European Ensembles, such as The Gabrieli Consort, Ars Nova Copenhagen, Coro Casa da Musica, Porto and English Voices. She was also a founder member of the 5-voice ensemble Papagena, a group that explores the wealth of music written specifically for women’s voices, from 11th century to the present day. Equally at home on the stage or concert platform, Abbi loves performing as an oratorio soloist, while on the opera stage, she has enjoyed singing roles with various small UK companies, including Atalanta (Handel Xerxes), Vixen (Janacek The Cunning Little Vixen) Susanna and Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Despina (Così fan Tutte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Musetta (La Bohème) and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi).
Sarah Thursfield, Alto
Sarah is a contralto originally from Dublin. A student of Robert Dean, her recent solo performances include Stanford’s Stabat mater and Buckley’s Lament for Art O’Leary with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Fennessy’s Blood with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Elgar’s The Light of Life, Duruflé’s Requiem, Bach’s St John Passion, Mozart’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B-minor, Cousser’s The Universal Applause of Mount Parnassus, and Handel’s Messiah with Chamber Choir Ireland and the Irish Baroque Orchestra under Peter Whelan. Sarah is an experienced choral musician, and is a member of ensembles such as Chamber Choir Ireland, Sestina Music and Resurgam. She also recently had the pleasure of being appointed as the first female Lay Vicar at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, where she currently holds the post of Vicar of the Prebendary of Swords.

He recently completed his Masters in vocal performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Dr Imelda Drumm and there was awarded the Blackwater Valley Opera | RIAM John Pollard bursary to support his studies. He has sung as a soloist and in choirs all his life—growing up in Irish choral institutions such as the Irish Youth Choir, New Dublin Voices, the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral Dublin and the Choral Scholars of University College Dublin. He gained his Bachelor of Music Education in 2020 from RIAM and Trinity College Dublin. He made his stage debut at Wexford Festival Opera 2023 and became a member of the WFO 'Factory' young artist programme, there performing the roles of Beppe (I Pagliacci) and Nemorino (L’Elisir d’Amore).
