About this Event
Travel the world through this musical journey of global folk traditions that weaves together beloved melodies and evocative narratives from across cultures, celebrating the universal human spirit through song.
From the haunting lyricism of Sephardic, Spanish, and Greek traditions to the vibrant rhythms of Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, this program showcases how folk music transcends borders and eras. Featuring arrangements for voice, flute, harp, and piano, "Sing Me a Song of Your People" highlights both intimate solo moments and dynamic collaborations.
Experience the delicate interplay of harp and voice in Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Three Sephardic Songs and Benjamin Britten’s lyrical settings, alongside lively instrumentals like Béla Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances. The program also includes Robert Beaser’s evocative Mountain Songs and Grace Christus’s vibrant contemporary folk song arrangements, offering fresh interpretations of traditional melodies.
Through this journey, familiar tunes emerge in surprising ways—inviting listeners to reflect on the shared stories, struggles, and celebrations that connect communities across the globe. Join us for two unforgettable afternoons of music that will bridge cultures and generations, reminding us that in every language and tradition, we sing to express who we are.
General admission tickets are just $20, and children 16 and under are admitted free to select performances, ensuring accessibility for families and community members of all ages. Special three-concert series packages for only $45 are available for a limited time. Visit www.chambermusicdenver.org for more information on subscription packages.
