Wear your red, white, and blue! The evening begins with our dedication of the newly planted Liberty Tree, followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 6:30 p.m., and a musical performance by the Simsbury Community Band from 7:00-8:15 p.m.
First, join us at 6 p.m. for a brief dedication ceremony for Simsbury's Liberty Tree, an American Elm tree planted in the center circle of the Simsbury Historical Society's main lot at 10 Phelps Lane.
Then, listen as the Declaration of Independence is read at 6:30 p.m., commemorating the first public reading of this famous document on July 8, 1776.
The evening will be capped off with a musical tribute to our nation’s 250th birthday! The Simsbury Community Band will perform a full concert of patriotic tunes and crowd favorites.
Activities take place on the Simsbury Historical Society grounds in downtown Simsbury. BYO lawn chairs and picnic blankets! Free admission! No registration required.
