Simple Wood Furniture Repair for Beginners (S4) @ STL

Gain the skills and confidence required to repair and refresh small wooden furniture. Some materials required. No experience needed. 18+.
About this Event

Learn how to repair and refresh small wooden furniture pieces in this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop. Participants will practice basic repair skills, including identifying loose joints, safely taking pieces apart, re-gluing and clamping, replacing small damaged parts, sanding rough areas, and doing simple finish touch-ups.

This class focuses on everyday tools like drills, drivers, circular (or miter) saws, orbital sanders, clamps, and sanding blocks. Safety will be covered first, including eye protection, dust management, safe tool handling, and proper clamping.

By the end of class, participants will leave with a repaired item of their own and the confidence to tackle simple furniture repairs at home. No prior woodworking experience is needed.

Important Notes:

• Please bring one small-to-medium wooden item to repair, such as a chair, small table, nightstand, or frame.
• Participants must wear closed-toe shoes, bring an N-95 mask, and be 18 or older.

About the instructor, Tiffany Lamoreaux: Tiffany has been doing "furniture flipping" for about 5 years now. She is passionate about keeping things out of the landfill, so if she sees a piece of furniture on the side of the road, she will often take it home and give it a second life. Most furniture needs minimal repair but lots of TLC. Sometimes Tiffany does complete redesign work, sometimes she does a straight restoration, but always she brings new life to a piece of furniture that would otherwise be tossed away.

GETTING THERE:

• By transit: Served by King County Metro bus Rapid Ride E Line on Aurora Ave N and N 165th.
• By bike: The venue is located one block west of the Interurban Trail. Shoreline Light Rail stations are each about 2 miles away. A bicycle rack is available outside the building.
• Car parking: There is an asphalt parking lot that fits up to 20 cars. There is one ADA van accessible parking space with an access aisle.
