The Simon Joyce Jazz Group is a small band of professional musicians who happen to be in high school.
Pianist Will Militzer and bassist Simon Joyce are accomplished jazz musicians in the Detroit and Ann Arbor area. Militzer has masterclassed with Christian McBride as well as Ari Hoenig, and has gigged professionally across the Ann Arbor area. Joyce is a two-time Michigan Jazz Festival all-star, taught by the City of Detroit's Composer Laureate. He's played at venues in the Detroit area such as Baker's, The Cadieux Cafe, and Cliff Bell's. The two of them met when they were both selected for the University of Michigan's highly selective Jazz Ambassadors program.
Drop in to the Royal Oak Public Library on September 10th for a great time. Support local musicians, hear some jazz, and grab a book on your way out!
