Join us for an afternoon of exceptional guitar music featuring internationally acclaimed guitar duo ChromaDuo and Canadian guitarist Tim Beattie, presented in the intimate setting of Burton Ave United Church.
The program includes solo and duo performances, followed by an open masterclass where audiences are invited to observe the artistic process in action. The masterclass offers insight into guitar technique, interpretation, performance, and more.

About the Artists
Tracy Anne Smith and Rob MacDonald have been captivating audiences for over fifteen years, performing across Canada, the United States, Mexico, England, and Germany. Their performances are celebrated for their profound musical connection, dazzling technique, and deeply expressive interpretations.
Critics and audiences alike are moved by their music: from world premieres to timeless arrangements, ChromaDuo’s repertoire bridges classical tradition and contemporary innovation. They are the dedicatees of works by renowned composers, including Roland Dyens, Stephen Goss, Dale Kavanagh, and Dušan Bogdanović, and have commissioned works by Leo Brouwer, Amy Brandon, and Sergio Assad. Their recordings, including Hidden Waters and Ravel and Debussy: Music for Two Guitars, are available on all major streaming platforms.
ChromaDuo has appeared at prestigious festivals including the Guitar Foundation of America, Festival 21 in Boston, the International Guitar Festival Iserlohn, and Festival Internacional de Guitarra Sinaloa. Their music has been broadcast internationally on CBC, NPR, RadioFrance, WFMT Chicago, Sveriges Radio, and more.

Tim Beattie is a Canadian guitarist whose artistry boasts “impeccable technique, great expressivity, and artistic sensitivity” (Leo Brouwer), offering “classical guitar at its very best” (Perthshire Advertiser), with playing that “dazzles … moving between textures and moods with ease” (Musicworks Magazine).
He gained international attention after winning the 2018 Brussels International Guitar Competition and has since earned top prizes in Antwerp, Calgary, Enschede, Hamilton, Leicester, Manhattan, and Uppsala. In 2025, Beattie was named one of CBC Music’s ‘30 Hot Classical Musicians under 30’.
Recent performance highlights include recital debuts at Carnegie Hall (NYC), Musikverein Wien (Austria), Festival Corde d’Autunno (Italy), Kitaranova Festival (Finland), Topsham Music Festival (UK), and Áureo Herrero Festival (Spain), alongside tours across the UK and Canada with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Opera, Canadian Opera Company, and Quartet Malamatina.
As a scholarship student at the Amsterdam Conservatory, Beattie graduated cum laude (BMus’19). He went on to complete fully-funded postgraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (MMus ‘21, Artist Diploma ‘22), and was the first guitarist invited to join the Rebanks Fellowship at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory (2022-23).
He is Associate Teacher and Guitar Co-ordinator at the University of St Andrews, founding director of St Andrews GuitarFest and Simcoe Guitar, and a PhD researcher at the University of Surrey’s International Guitar Research Centre.
