February 28th doesn't look too promising, weather-wise, so I'm pushing this walk forward to March 14th. Looking forward to seeing you then!
Join us for a short (1.5-mile) and sweet walk and (drum roll...) SOCIALIZING afterwards at the Silverwood Visitor Center (where they have a cozy cafe, bathrooms, and local art on show)!
This small, delightful park has outside sculptures along the walk as well, and is fully paved, with some extremely mild elevation but is mostly flat.
I don't know what the weather will be like by then, but be sure to dress appropriately and depending on ice/snow, ice traction cleats might help too. I'll keep an eye on things and will call off the event no later than an hour before start time if the weather isn't cooperating!
More important info:
MEETING ADDRESS: we'll meet in front of the Silverwood Visitor Center (there's plenty of parking in the lot nearby. The address is 2500 County Road E in St. Anthony, MN 55421. Once you enter the park the winding road takes you directly to the parking lot. Look for the person with a lilac handkerchief tied to a wooden walking stick to gather.
TIME: We'll meet between 10:00 and 10:15 a.m. start the walk at 10:15 a.m. Please note that while I do check my phone before we start, sometimes the signal isn't great and I might miss messages from folks.
Some things to know:
*Please do not leave anything in your car and lock your doors while we're on our walk.
*Look for someone with a lilac handkerchief tied to a walking stick so we can gather in a group.
*Dress appropriately for the weather. In colder temps this includes lots of thin layers with a hat, gloves, and thick socks.*
*Pets are welcome on the trail but are NOT allowed inside the visitors center.
