We will be back at My Secret Shelves for another poetry circle in June. The first one was such a moving experience that we knew we had to do it again. The vibes were immaculate and this time the space will be larger due to the store's expansion. We can't wait! 🎉
Continuing with drawing inspiration from Welsh mythology for our theme, the name "Silver Wheel" comes from the tale of Arianrhod. Her story includes themes of betrayal, trickery, misogyny, and forced birth. Her uncle and brother schemed against her to force her into magically giving birth to children they wanted for their own means, even though she had no desire to become a mother at the time. They wanted her children for her status and power. Her story is one that still rings true today for women around the world. Our bodily autonomy is in question, even by other women. 🪞🪄
Arianrhod is traditionally associated with the arts, manifestation, spinning, and weaving. She is said to weave the tapestry of life itself, symbolizing the conscious creation of life, its continuous flow, and the changing of events. She is also regarded as a guiding figure for souls of the departed, leading them to their final resting place. 🌚
Summer is upon us, and we're not vibing with hot girl summer. We prefer a more chill introspective summer where we ponder the story of our lives and the lives of those around us in the A/C. A perfect day is spent curled up with a good book, our favorite pens, and our notebooks where we scribble our innermost thoughts and weave a story worth telling. 🎱
