Silicon Valley Visual Arts Fall Mixer

In collaboration with the Allied Arts Guild, Silicon Valley Visual Arts Fall invites you to our fall mixer to mingle with your fellow artists. This in-person event is all about sharing ideas and inspirations. Refreshments will be served.

We will be meeting in the patio just beside the Artisan Shop on the south side of the Guild (please park in the street, not the parking lot, since there will also be a wedding).

Our keynote address will be given by Guy Magallanes, an award-winning watercolor artist who has been teaching for more than 20 years. He is self-taught and has painted since childhood.

He will be showing two ways to finish & protect artwork without having to frame it under glass. The demonstration will include:

· Stretching watercolor paper over stretcher bars, and how to varnish for protection.

· Mounting artwork on cradled birch bark panels, and how to finish & protect the paintings.

Guy’s artwork is published in Splash 9, 10, 15 and is one of 15 contributors to “Watercolor Secrets by North Light Books. He has co-hosted the Instructional Television Show called "Art2Art"on KCSM, the local public television station. This instructional program aired from 2006 until 2015 and won a WAVE award in 2007.

He has instructed workshops in Italy, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Nevada, locally, at Filoli from 2006 - 2019 and online workshops through the ArtistsNetworkUniversity. He continues teaching classes at his studio in San Carlos.
