Sherlock Jr. x R.E.M. is a Silents Synced film that pairs Buster Keaton’s 1924 silent film Sherlock Jr. with R.E.M.’s Monster and New Adventures in Hi-Fi albums. The film is part of the Silents Synced series, which pairs classic silent movies with rock music.
The band R.E.M. was a fan of Buster Keaton, and former guitarist Peter Buck said he was honored to collaborate with Keaton from beyond the grave. The band’s manager, Bertis Downs, said that the band members liked the way the music and film worked together.
