Mother Language Day: Tales of the Magic Lantern

Following a cherished tradition, we invite you to celebrate Mother Language Day with the Belarusian community of Boston and our special guest, Alexander Yefremov - a theater and film actor and participant in the “Diafilm Live” project.

During the event, Alexander will present Tales of the Magic Lantern - stories brought to life on diafilm with the author’s music and the actor’s narration. Children will have the unique opportunity to experience fairy tales in their native language in a fresh and engaging way, while parents can reminisce about their own childhoods, when an ordinary white sheet illuminated by a projector became a magical portal 🎥 ✨

The program will feature the fairy tales:

• “Sheep Go on a Picnic” by V. Gapeeva
• “A Scary Tale About a Scary Beast” by I. Bursov (translated by R. Baradulin)
• “Who Lives in the Garage?” by A. Skurko
• “The Hunt” by A. Khadanovich

The event will conclude with a shadow theater master class, where children and adults can create their characters and bring them to life.
