About this Event
Do you know who made your clothes?
Join us for another lunchtime talk on Saturday 11th April to follow the thread of garment workers rights from the Edwardian East End to modern day Guangzhou. Garment workers have played a massive role in feminist movements, but their rights are often overlooked and the language used to discuss unethical work practices actually serves to make garment workers (past and present) voiceless and invisible. This talk will examine the impact of garment workers on the suffragette movement, as well as discussing how popular narratives often remove the voice and agency of the women involved.
