Celebrate Silent Movie Day (https://silentmovieday.org) at the historic Brook Arts Center in Bound Brook, NJ with a screening of the 1925 silent film “The Wizard of Oz” and the 1910 short “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”!
Before the iconic 1939 movie musical starring Judy Garland, there were several silent film adaptations of L. Frank Baum’s classic novel which turns 125 this year!
These classics both influenced the movie we all know and love, but also took their own path introducing comedic elements, alternate endings, new characters, and interesting subplots.
Experience the films as audiences did a century ago with a live score by award-winning organist Ian Fraser (https://ianfraserorganist.com/) performed on the Garden State Theatre Organ Society's restored 1920s Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. Hear over 750 real organ pipes built right into the walls of the theatre filling the space with music just like it was 1925 all over again!
