Join us in celebrating the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of our former executive director, Holly B. Wait, with a community-wide silent book party! To honor her memory, we are hosting this event as a fitting tribute to the bright light we unexpectedly lost earlier this year. You can participate right here at the museum or from any location.
The City of Columbus has officially designated December 17 as "Holly B. Wait Day" in recognition of her tireless devotion to the museum. Holly's spirit was defined by her love of literacy and learning, and her unwavering commitment to supporting new museum professionals.
Admission is pay what you can, and we encourage donations of any amount. All funds raised will benefit the Holly B. Wait Fund, which directly fuels our intern program and ongoing exhibit development—two areas Holly championed with immense passion.
How to Celebrate:
Read With Us: Join us for a relaxing read in our galleries, on a bench, or in a quiet corner on December 17, 2025. Feel free to bring a book of any genre and stay as long as you wish between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM.
Shop Local: Our museum gift shop will offer 20% off all books for the entire day if you'd like to take something new home!
Start the Day Sweet: We'll kick off the morning with coffee and donuts (while supplies last)—a sweet tribute to four of Holly’s favorite things: coffee, doughnuts, books, and generosity.
Can't Make It?
If you cannot attend, we still encourage you to participate in the fun! Simply take a photo of yourself with your book, make a donation, and share your picture on social media, no matter where you are in the world.
