Silent Book Club Roanoke at Mill Mountain Park

Often with traditional book clubs there's the scramble to finish the assigned book, and the pressure to have something smart to say. Wouldn't it be great to have a book club where you could just enjoy books, friends, and drinks—without any homework?
At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. All readers are welcome—ebooks, audiobooks, textbooks, comic books... it's BYOBook. Our events are free and support local businesses. Friends and strangers gather at a set time and location, order food or drinks, share what they're reading, and settle in for an hour of silent, sustained reading. At the end of the hour, attendees can socialize—or not!
Join us for a special SBC event! Small Things Coffee & Thrift and Quirks & Quills Bookshop will be parked in the Mill Mountain Zoo parking lot for your beverage and browsing pleasure. After our group photo, our members will get a special rate at the Mill Mountain Zoo ($9 per adult and $8 per child) to wander through to look at all the amazing animals with some great fellow readers!
We’ll set up our picnic on the Park side of the zoo! Keep an eye out for folks with books and we’ll direct you to our destination. Feel free to bring breakfast, blankets, chairs, and anything else to make this picnic a lovely event.

9-9:30 Get settled, grab something tasty, and casual introductions
9:30-10:30 Silent reading
10:30-?? Group book photo with the Star in the background, chatting, shopping, and taking a walk through the Mill Mountain Zoo!
