Greetings everyone!
I hope you are all having a blessed 2026 thus far! I am delighted to announce that we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Saint Ignatius Institute on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
You and your families and all of the SII Family are all invited to celebrate with us! A lot of the details will need to be worked out, but I can tell you this:
Mass for the Feast of the Assumption will be with our own SII Alumnus, His Excellency Most Rev. Steven J. Lopes, S ThD, who is the first Bishop of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter.
Our Founder of the St. Ignatius Institute, Fr. Joseph Fessio, SJ will be the Homilist at this special Mass. All of our Priests will be welcome to concelebrate with Bishop Steven.
There will be a luncheon reception afterwards.
· We will honor Father Fessio, John Galten and all of the founding fathers of the Institute and the great legacy they created.
· We will honor Fr. C.M. Buckley, SJ who is in his 100th year.
· We will honor Sr. Marie Ignatius Clune, RSHM who will celebrate her 90th birthday in September.
· We will also honor the Staff of Ignatius Press who will all be included in our festivities as the Press grew out of the SII and was founded in 1978. There has always been a very close bond between the Institute and the Press.
As we are looking at various locations, please email me if you plan to attend with the number of people in your group. It will help a great deal as we prepare for this special event to make sure that we have a large enough space to accommodate everyone.
Not even half of the SII Alumni have ever been on this email list, so please make sure that your friends and classmates know that they are also invited! If you wish to be added to the SII Email list, please email me at: [email protected]
