On Friday Nov 7 at 7:30pm, Poetics Corvallis presents a poetry open mic featuring David Goodrum, a Corvallis-based writer/photographer who is the current President of the Oregon Poetry Association. David’s latest poetry collection, Vitals and Other Signs of Life, appeared in 2024. Others include the chapbook \’spärs(,)pō’et’əkə\ — Sparse Poetica (2023), and a forthcoming chapbook Abrupt Edges. Recent poems have appeared in Tar River Poetry, Gyroscope Review, San Antonio Review, Triggerfish Critical Review, I-70 Review, Cirque Journal, Banyan Review, Tampa Review, and the Irish journal Skylight 47.We will start with Dave's poetry at 7:30pm, with poetry Open Mic to follow. Open Mic signup starts at 7:15pm. Come share poems or poetic prose that you like, by you or by another, on any topic, at our friendly free open mic in the artsy ambience of the Interzone Cafe. Or come to just listen, and let poetry dissolve, at least for a moment, the walls between us all.
More about David Goodrum:
As an undergrad David studied at Indiana University and graduated with a creative writing thesis of poems. He holds degrees in English, German and Instructional Systems Technology. David has been a high school teacher, a developer of instructional software, a fine arts photographer exhibiting at juried art fairs, and a director of educational technology across two different universities.
His photography has graced the covers of several art and literature magazines, most recently Cirque Journal, Willows Wept Review, Blue Mesa Review, Red Rock Review, The Moving Force Journal, Snapdragon Journal, Vita Poetica, and appeared in many others.
David joined the Executive Board of the Oregon Poetry Association in 2023 and is currently president. He’s also served on the Board of Directors for The Arts Center in Corvallis since 2022.
