The soulful eyes of Billie Allen have painted the world as he sees it for many years. His singular work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the country and featured in many artist publications. But Billie hasn’t been to a single opening of his work. Because for over 25 years Billie was on Death Row in Terre Haute, Indiana. And although his death sentence was commuted to life sentence, his future reamins unclear despite considerable public outcry that he’s wrongfully convicted. Programmed alongside American Lives Theatre’s Wad by Keiko Green, this exhibit and the accompanying documentary explores where art, isolation, and justice collide.
