Sigh–Sing Intense (5 giorni) è un laboratorio dedicato all’emergere della voce cantata a partire da uno strumento liberato. Radicato nei principi del metodo Freeing the Natural Voice di Kristin Linklater, il lavoro si interroga su questo: cosa accade quando un sospiro non viene risolto, ma gli si permette di continuare? Quando l’impulso si estende oltre la parola fino al suono, e il suono fino alla relazione?
Praticato all’interno dell’etica della formazione dell’attore ispirata a Jerzy Grotowski, questo intensivo affronta il canto non come repertorio, ma come un veicolo — una struttura precisa attraverso cui presenza, ascolto e azione interiore possono essere affinati. Un canto tradizionale polifonico diventa il nostro partner di lavoro, permettendo agli impulsi individuali di incontrarsi, creare armonia e rivelare una vibrazione collettiva.
Il training integra preparazione fisica, progressione Linklater, lavoro sui risuonatori, testo, improvvisazione e disciplina d’ensemble. Il coaching individuale si sviluppa all’interno del campo condiviso del gruppo, dove l’ascolto diventa un atto che coinvolge tutto il corpo e il canto emerge dalla necessità piuttosto che dall’intenzione.
“Se riesci a risvegliare dentro di te un vero impulso a sospirare di sollievo, cosa accadrebbe se potessi risvegliare un flusso inarrestabile di impulsi, un flusso di vita nella forma del canto?”
Questo intensivo è rivolto ad attori, cantanti e performer che cercano un approccio rigoroso e incarnato al canto — e che sono disposti a interrogarsi su dove nasca davvero il desiderio di cantare.

Lunedì–Mercoledì: 10:00–13:00 e 15:00–18:00
Giovedì: mattina libera, sessione 15:00–18:00
Venerdì: 10:00–13:00 e 15:00–18:00
Preparazione:
Porta con te abiti comodi per il lavoro fisico e un testo (una poesia o un monologo) oppure una canzone che hai memorizzato.
Assicurati che il materiale che porti sia importante per te per qualche motivo; sarebbe preferibile che il testo/la canzone fosse scritto/a in prima persona.

Joanna Kurzyńska viene da Wrocław, Polonia. Violinista di professione (Accademia di Musica K. Lipiński di Wrocław), ma suonerà qualsiasi cosa sia necessaria. In pratica è un'attrice, cantante, compositrice e insegnante di recitazione e lavoro vocale.
Si è formata nella recitazione e nel canto sotto la supervisione di insegnanti e praticanti polacchi e stranieri, ma considera i suoi insegnanti più importanti Emma Bonnici, Kristin Linklater e Małgorzata Jaworska-Kaczmarek, sua madre. Ha debuttato nel 2000 nel musical "Peter Pan" al Teatro Musicale Roma di Varsavia. Co-fondatrice dell'Accademia giovanile di musical di Breslavia (Młodzieżowa Akademia Musicalowa), dove dal 2009 tiene lezioni di recitazione e dirige spettacoli con la partecipazione di studenti. Le è stata assegnata la Borsa di Studio Creativa del Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali, che ha dato origine al suo originale percorso di ricerca, Voice In Progress. Nel 2020-2021 ha collaborato con la band SUTARI.
Associata all'Istituto Grotowski principalmente attraverso Studio Kokyu negli anni 2017-2023 (co-gestendo la linea di ricerca e workshop dello Studio con Przemysław Błaszczak, la performance "Halo?" nel 2018, "Action Medea" nel 2022-2023), nonché lo Studio Voice In Progress dell'autrice, in cui conduce ricerche sull'origine, le possibilità e il significato della voce umana, con particolare attenzione al metodo "Freeing the Natural Voice" di Kristin Linklater.
Riceva la Medaglia al Merito per la Cultura Polacca nel dicembre 2021.
È prima Insegnante Linklater Designata in Polonia (dal 2023).

Sigh–Sing Intense (5 days) is a laboratory dedicated to the emergence of singing voice from a freed instrument. Rooted in the principles of Kristin Linklater’s Freeing the Natural Voice, the work asks: what happens when a sigh is not resolved, but allowed to continue? When impulse extends beyond speech into tone, and tone into relationship?
Practiced within the ethos of performer training inspired by Jerzy Grotowski, this intensive approaches song not as repertoire, but as a vehicle — a precise structure through which presence, listening, and inner action can be refined. A traditional polyphonic song becomes our working partner, allowing individual impulses to meet, form harmony, and reveal collective vibration.
The training integrates physical preparation, Linklater progression, resonator work, text, improvisation, and ensemble discipline. Individual coaching unfolds within the shared field of the group, where listening becomes a whole-body act and singing emerges from necessity rather than intention.
“If you can awaken within yourself a real impulse to sigh with relief, what about awakening an unstoppable stream of impulses, a stream of life in the form of song?”
This intensive is for actors, singers, and performers who seek a rigorous, embodied approach to singing — and who are willing to ask where the longing to sing truly begins.

Preparation:
Take with you comfortable workout clothes and a piece of text (a verse or monologue) or a song that you have memorized.
Make sure that the material you bring is important to you for some reason; it would be good if the text/song was written in the first person.

Joanna Kurzyńska comes from Wrocław, Poland. A violinist by profession (K. Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław), but she will play anything needed. In practice, she is an actress, vocalist, composer and teacher of acting and voice work.
She trained in acting and singing under the supervision of Polish and foreign teachers and practitioners, but she considers her most important teachers to be Emma Bonnici, Kristin Linklater and Małgorzata Jaworska-Kaczmarek, her mother. She made her debut in 2000 in the musical “Peter Pan” at the Roma Musical Theater in Warsaw. Co-founder of the Youth Academy of Musical in Wrocław, where since 2009 she has been conducting acting classes and directing performances with the participation of students. She was awarded with the Creative Scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, which gave rise to her original research path, Voice In Progress. In 2020-2021, she collaborated with the SUTARI band.
Associated with the Grotowski Institute mainly through Studio Kokyu in years 2017-2023 (co-running the Studio’s research and workshop line with Przemysław Błaszczak, the performance “Halo?” in 2018, „Action MEdea” 2022-2023), as well as the author’s Studio Voice In Progress, in which she conducts research on the source, possibilities and meaning of the human voice, with particular attention to the „Freeing the Natural Voice” method by Kristin Linklater.
Honored with the Medal of Merit for Polish Culture in December 2021.
